OK, it was HOT when we lined up for 28 laps of the 3-corner crit course. And it stayed hot. Colavita pretty much patrolled the front the whole race, so it wasn't slow but wasn't crazy fast, nor did it have too many accelerations other than a few primes and points sprints. I worked stay in the front third of the pack the best I could and even made it up near the front a few times and just had some fun. Finished 37th, with the same time as the pack, and held on to my 22nd place on GC (just 2 spots out of the money, arg). So another year of Fitchburg is done. It had some ups (making the break!) and some downs (getting dropped from the break and then having to read about it on Cyclingnews and Velonews) but it was a fun time.
If you ever want to do a stage race, I'd recommend it.
pics: At the sharp turn at the top of the course, I looked down to see Rob laying on the sidewalk taking pictures.
Rivers finished safe and sound with the pack as well.
